Man's head crushed by digger

A worker has a serious head injury and a broken leg after being hit by a digger bucket in the Auckland Suburb of Okahu Bay.

The digger was being unloaded from the back of a truck when the accident happened. The worker was hit in the head and has been taken to hospital. 

St Johns Ambulance team manager Glen Tyalor said the digger bucket fell on the man's head from about 2 metres. The man then fell about 1.5 metres and broke his leg.

Mr Taylor said the man has serious injuries including lacerations and fractions and has been taken to Auckland hospital in a serious condition.
